Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice Calls on Governor Pritzker to Sign the Pretrial Fairness Act
On February 4th, the Pretrial Fairness Act landed on Governor Pritzker’s (virtual) desk. The bill will end money bond entirely and transform Illinois’ pretrial system. It was passed by the Illinois legislature on January 13th as part of a criminal justice omnibus bill proposed by the state’s Legislative Black Caucus. Governor Pritkzer has repeatedly championed ending money bond as a legislative priority of his administration, and he can now achieve that goal by signing the Pretrial Fairness Act into law. This week, the Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice sent a letter to the Governor calling on him to sign the bill. You can read our letter here.
After you’ve read the letter, take a moment to send your own email to the Governor asking him him to sign the Pretrial Fairness Act into law: bit.ly/PretrialThankYou
